Choosing the best agency for you is the first step in a successful surrogacy experience. You may feel that location isn’t the most import item on your list of questions but it certainly should be one to take into consideration. Below are five things to consider if you have your mind set on a local agency. 

  •  Reason One: You want to be matched with local Intended Parents

  •  Reason Two: You like the idea of having a local case manager that is in the same time zone as you are

  •  Reason Three: You want someone to hold your hand and attend some of the appointments with you and perhaps be at the birth (i.e. local in person support)

  •  Reason Four: You feel that a local agency would know the most about local professionals including hospitals, clinics and OB offices.

  •  Reason Five: You like the idea that a local agency will be most familiar with your state’s laws and statutes regarding the surrogacy process. 

    These are all great reasons to “go local” but remember that if your local agency doesn’t have the bandwidth to assist you, the Intended Parents you want to work with, or you don’t feel the need to have your hand held it’s perfectly fine to look elsewhere.
