Creating Families for the Love of It

Ellen Trachman and Jennifer White are first and foremost, sisters. They are also the founders of Montana Surrogacy. That's only one of their many accomplishments. They help create families and gave me the great pleasure of helping them do that. They have made a lot of people's lives better in many ways, including mine.

I had the opportunity to meet Ellen and Jennifer during my surrogacy journey. Things didn't go as planned. Ellen and Jennifer were there to save the day. Ellen's knowledge of the law combined with her caring personality put us all at ease. I remember early in my surrogacy journey when my IPs described Ellen, they said: "She's down to earth and easy to talk to, we feel comfortable with her." I couldn't agree more with that statement.

Jennifer was always one step ahead of me. She made sure everything ran smoothly. After I gave birth, she called me and truly listened to my thoughts about my experience. After that conversation, I could tell that she wanted to make the best surrogacy agency possible and I wanted to be a part of it. Now that I am their employee, I see first-hand how much they care for their clients and all of their employees. They treat us all like family.

Professionally, Ellen is an attorney who left corporate law to make a more personal difference in people’s lives. She founded Trachman Law Center, LLC, a legal service provider based in Denver, Colorado, specializing in family formation law. Ellen and her sister founded Colorado Surrogacy, Montana Surrogacy and New Mexico Surrogacy. Ellen loves representing and supporting men and women who are building their families through assisted reproductive technology. She can’t imagine more rewarding, meaningful and enjoyable work.

Ellen is affiliated with several professional associations devoted to family formation and was named Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year in 2015 by the Denver Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and Legal Program Volunteer of the Year in 2017 by the GLBT Community Center of Colorado. Originally from northern New Mexico, Ellen did her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley and earned her law degree from Emory University in Atlanta. She is a member of the American Bar Association Assisted Reproductive Technology Committee and Adoption Committee, the Colorado Bar Association Family Law Section, the Colorado Women's Bar Association, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and Resolve (a national infertility association). Ellen also writes for Above the Law, about various surrogacy topics. Her passion for surrogacy shines through in every post. She truly loves what she does and she's good at it.

Jennifer loves helping people realize their dream of becoming parents and is honored to play a role in this intimate and life-enhancing journey. She finds the work deeply rewarding. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University Montgomery, Jennifer spent 15 years as a paralegal. She’s also worked in the insurance and medical fields, all to say she feels uniquely qualified to help intended parents and their surrogate sort through any bumps in the road.

Thanks to a husband in the Air Force, Jennifer has lived in every region of the country as well as Germany and England—and she’s been to every state in the U.S., with the exception of Alaska. She’s the proud mom of one daughter and two fur-babies. With several half-marathons under her belt, she’s keen to fulfill a major life goal and run the full 26.2 miles. When you get the chance, ask Jennifer about the playground in Amersham, England, named after her.

Not only have they started a business together, they put together this incredible team of women to help them. These sisters inspire me. Could you start a business with your sister?
